Secret Benefits of Telehealth

Unfortunately, recent times have made people more familiar with telehealth than ever. But maybe having to rely on telehealth is not as unfortunate as we first thought. Although we can't perform the hands-on techniques typically associated with PT, we now realize that this is a feasible way to get a lot of people feeling better without needing to be in the clinic.

If you are unfamiliar with telehealth, it is when we perform your PT session using zoom or some other form of secured video chat. Using this as a mode of Physical Therapy may have become more prevalent because of covid-19 but it's becoming clear that it is useful for a number of other situations as well. There are so many people who are in pain or have an injury that are desperately trying to get back to the activities they love but they just can't find the time to get help. Telehealth is a game changer when it comes to this situation. It allows you the chance to get your life back from the comfort of your own home, on your own schedule! There are so many obstacles that can make getting to a PT session challenging: getting sick, long commute, New England weather, looking after the kids, working overtime, going on vacation, Covid. The list goes on and on. Telehealth is a way for us to bridge the gap between your hectic life and therapy while oftentimes still getting the same results as you would in person.

One of the other cool benefits you get from doing a telehealth session is that you are able to record it and watch it again later. This is great if you forget something we talked about, want to check your form on an exercise, or are excited about your progress and want to share with your friends/family. The fact that we can get people better without having to see them in person allows us to reach so many people that would otherwise still be in pain. It's a very exciting time for both patients and PTs. With all this being said, not everyone is a good fit for telehealth. Some people need hands-on treatment to improve, making telehealth a sub-par option for these individuals.

If this is the case while working with us here at Rise Above PT we can either schedule you for an in-person appointment or refer you in the right direction. Either way we are committed to making sure you find the treatment that's best for you.
